Create Your OSCAR Project Description

As part of the OSCAR Scholarly Opportunities program, we invite faculty to submit project descriptions that will be featured on the Student Opportunities Center (SOC) platform — launching soon!

These descriptions help students learn more about available research opportunities and decide which projects best match their interests, goals, and schedules.

What to Include in Your Submission

Please provide:

  • A clear, jargon-free description of your scholarly project
Write this for someone outside your discipline. Help students understand the purpose of your research and why it matters.

  • Desired qualifications
What qualities, skills, or academic background would help a student succeed in this project? (It’s okay if no prior research experience is needed!)

  • A sample “day in the life”
Give a brief overview of what a student might expect during a typical day working with you.

  • A sample “week in the life”
Share a snapshot of the broader experience: How many hours? Types of tasks? Meetings, trainings, or independent work?
